Foster & Black
- Brand Identity
- Branding Guide
Foster & Black is a specialty coffee stand based in Sunshine Plaza, Maroochydore and sits alongside Made Sandwiches. Foster & Black are the names of the two fellas who own the shop, with Mr Black working as a barista in the coffee scene on the Sunshine Coast over the past 3 years.
Foster & Black needed to be a brand that made a statement. It needed to make a mark in the world of coffee. It also needed to work alongside its brother business Made. This was our challenge that we happily accepted.
What we did:
We dug deep into the reasons why we drink coffee and the experience of drinking coffee. We explored how coffee has become such a huge part of society, culture and our everyday routine. What we realised is that coffee is the pause in our day. It’s the moment we pause to reflect on the day ahead, the moment we pause in our daily schedule to catch up with friends, the moment we pause to take a break from the daily grind.
The pause symbol was the mark that would sum up Foster & Black. Simple. To the point.
The two pillar symbol also represents the two dudes behind the brand, Andrew & Harry.
A sleek look and feel was designed around the pause sign with the use of a monochrome palette. The pause sign was given a neon type treatment to reflect the old school neon cafe signs often seen on a city strip. The words ‘Foster’ and ‘Black’ were treated in the same fashion.
The customers and audience are connecting with the brand. The unique, simple logo and sleek design makes it “Instagram worthy” - it has helped to see a steady social media growth and a successful start to the business.
