Background:

Network Communications is one of Optus’ largest regional premium dealers with over 50+ stores Australia wide. They have a keen focus in regional Australia and strategic communities and retain one of the highest customer satisfaction ratings out of the entire Optus corporation. 

Network came to us at a critical point in their journey. They were facing a number of broad sweeping changes in the marketplace that affected them in many strategic facets including; retail vs online competition, brand identity, and organisation culture.

Network needed a way to innovate in an ever growing competitive market, provide ongoing support and value for their 50+ franchises, integrate all stores within the Optus brand, and - most critically - maintain the internal culture, vision and mission that founded and built their business for over 20yrs.

What we did:

With their public face being rebranded into Optus retail outlets, Network faced their challenge of maintaining their “sense of self”. Our role has been to provide brand advice and creative, inspiring and strategic communication strategies with multi-media outcomes to overcome this challenge. To achieve this we began by immersing ourselves in the culture of Network Communications, discovering what has made them so successful and unique as a company. This foundation has allowed us to provide Network with solutions across a wide range of applications.

National Conferences

Every June, Network holds their national conference. They use this time to nurture their culture and values, and recognise store and individual performances company wide. Now for 3 years running we’ve worked with key corporate staff to rationalise values and conference themes into a myriad of media & visual applications to help build excitement, create atmosphere, set the theme and support the messages communicated. Since this time we’ve also helped with their annual management retreat, producing branding and media for the same agenda.

Product Innovation

Network is revolutionising the mobile telecommunications industry with the innovation of a phone plan that gives a percentage of the customer’s monthly phone bill to a charity they select at no extra cost. Our ongoing role is to maintain current public exposure for the product whilst helping Network strategically position the product within Optus. By providing brand & product strategic advice, system planning, marketing & business planning we are set to help them realise the full latent potential within the product.

Internal Communications

Throughout the year we produce various publications that engage staff and stakeholders in the culture and values of Network. This has taken many shapes including end of year documents, vision document, corporate image and communications structures, infographics, e-newsletters and more.

The Result:

So far we’ve seen a dramatic improvement in clarity. The language and vernacular used to explain products, systems and strategic position is radically transforming to match their new position from a retailer to a corporation, and resonating with staff, stakeholders and consumers alike. Optus have given preliminary approvals to proposals surrounding the charity based product we had a significant hand in developing and preparing for presentation. Each year we’ve seen a steady increase in attendance to the National Conference and engagement with material and merchandise.
